I recently signed up to a membership with the organisation, 'Women In Film and Television', or WIFT for short, which is a 700+ member strong female group which works to support growth and sustainability for women in the film and television industry. WIFT organises a variety of events, workshops and meet ups for women in Auckland Wellington and Christchurch where women can network with other industry females, gain opportunities and support one another. I just received my membership card today which was very exciting, the perks of this membership is not only the variety of film events and workshops available but also the great discounts at local theatres like The Embassy which I spend a lot of time watching the latest films.
They are having a workshop coming up on the 3rd of April called 'Women Working at Weta' that I will be attending. This will be a great opportunity to hear from 'heavy hitter', strong and influential women working with the amazing Weta Digital and hear more about their experiences in the film industry and how they got to be where they are now.
